What is the gospel?

The gospel — meaning "good news" — is the message that God created humanity for relationship with Him, but sin broke that relationship. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to earth, lived a sinless life, died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin, and rose from the dead on the third day. Through faith in Jesus, anyone can be forgiven, reconciled to God, and given eternal life. Salvation is a free gift of God’s grace, received by faith — not earned by good works (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Who is Jesus?

Jesus Christ is the Son of God — fully God and fully human. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and willingly laid down His life, suffering a vicarious and atoning death on the cross through His shed blood, to take the punishment humanity deserved for sin. Three days later, He rose bodily from the dead, defeating sin and death. He is now exalted at the right hand of the Father and will return to judge the living and the dead. He is the only way to the Father (John 14:6) and the Savior of all who put their trust in Him.

How to be saved?

To be saved, repent of your sins and trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior—confessing with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and that He is alive today. Salvation is a free gift of God, completely apart from human effort or works.

Salvation is just the beginning of a lifelong relationship with God. Begin following Him by talking to Him daily in prayer, reading the Bible to know His heart, and joining a local, Biblically sound church where you can grow alongside other believers.
